1978 Datsun 280Z Black Pearl Edition 5-Speed Manual Ferrari-Maserati of Long Island is proud to present this very rare and collectible 1978 Datsun 280Z Black Pearl Edition. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic over Black, the 280Z has been driven very few easy miles throughout its life. It has been expertly maintained and well-respected by its previous owners. This 280Z is complete with Window Sticker, All Service Records From New, and Owner Manual and Case. To honor the tenth anniversary of the Z-Car series, and to determine if the color black should be added to the Z-Car model line colors, Datsun made a limited run called the Black Pearl Edition. Like the car we feature, some of these Black Pearl Editions came with a Sports Appearance Package that included the following options Black Pearl Metallic Paint (Paint Code 638) and Red Silver Accent Stripes on Body-side, Hood, Hatch, Headlight Scoops, Rear Window Sunshade, and Dual Racing Mirrors. It is reported that at least one Black Pearl Edition with the ‘Sports Appearance Package’ was sent to each Authorized Datsun Dealer in 1978. Thus approximately 850 Black Pearl Editions with the Sports Appearance Packag were produced. The cars were so successful that in 1979 with the introduction of the 280ZX, Datsun featured their all-Black 280ZX model in their ‘Black Gold’ advertising campaign.
