Details

Description

Jim Carpenter’s renowned shop built this homage to the original 1967 P4 racer (24 Hours of Daytona winning car #23). The donor for this project was a 1965 Ferrari 330GT. It is street legal and retains it’s title and registration as a ’65 Ferrari 330. The original 4 liter engine was retained and is fitted with a race exhaust with silencers. Induction is handled by twin down draft Weber 40 DCOE’s. The engine is rated at 340hp.
Moving the engine to the middle of the car required the use of a rear mounted transaxle. A G50 5-speed was chosen due to ability to handle the engine’s power.
The body is constructed from hand laid carbon fiber, kevlar and fiberglass composite. The suspension is a mix of custom fabricated bits and 308 components modified to fit. Wilwood 4 piston brakes slow the car and Technomagnesio manufactured the wheels which are replicas of the original. They are wrapped in Avon rubber. Ferrari used this actual car in place of the original #23 car for a photo shoot to celebrate the anniversary of their 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 hours.
