Description:

Wilhelm Maybach was an Engineer who worked closely with Gottlieb Daimler in the early days of the combustion engine. Maybach left Daimler in 1907 and started his own company which produced engines for Zeppelins before expanding into the production of large luxurious sporting cars until the Second World War. The Maybach brand was revived by Mercedes-Benz to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley, which were owned by German rivals BMW and VW respectively. The Maybach 57 and 62 were designed and engineered to be the foremost luxury cars of the day featuring the latest technology and the finest materials with a bespoke finish. Where an S Class Mercedes could be assembled in one day, a Maybach required 58 days for assembly such was the hand-built nature and attention to detail required to produce each car.

Maybach announced the Zeppelin limited edition in 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show. Only 100 examples would be built, each featuring special California Beige leather with black stitching, piano black veneers with special inlays and an uprated 640 horsepower V12 biturbo engine.

The right hand drive Maybach 62S Zeppelin we are offering here is one of only a handful produced and is therefore extremely sought after. The specification of this car is so long only the highlights can be included here such as the 18 way adjustable reclining rear seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions. The entertainment system includes monitors in the rear with TV tuner and DVD player and BOSE surround sound. In addition to the already extensive standard specification this car features an electric division with electrochromic glass and intercom system, electrically operated curtains in the rear and an electrochromic roof. The Maybach 62S is one of the fastest and most luxurious ways to travel and this low mileage, limited edition example represents the best of the breed.
